This program provides trained and certified volunteers who visit licensed nursing homes and assisted living facilities to advocate for residents in a variety of ways. These can include regular visits with residents, investigation of complaints by residents or their family members, education about residents’ rights, information and referral services, and attendance at resident council meetings. Services are free and confidential. Volunteers work to improve the quality of life for local residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. For more information regarding this program, please contact the Shi Martin at 520.432.2528 Extension 206.

The issues of abuse, neglect and exploitation of long term care residents are of critical importance and should be reported and investigated promptly. The state agency given the responsibility to receive and investigate incidents of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of incapacitated or vulnerable adults is Adult Protective Services. They may be contacted at: Adult Protective Services Central Intake.
