The SouthEastern Arizona Governments Organization (SEAGO), through its contract with the Arizona Department of Transportation, is responsible for the formulating of population projections and annual population estimates for the region. This data is critical to the operation of each member entity of SEAGO. SEAGO has a representative on the Population Technical Advisory Committee (POPTAC), and SEAGO has been designated as a State Data Center (SDC) affiliate under the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Population Statistics Unit. The POPTAC representative is responsible for working with the Population Statistics Unit at DES in developing annual estimates and projections for the counties and incorporated places. Accurate population estimates are of extreme importance to entities, as the distribution of Highway User Revenue Funds (HURF), as well as expenditure limitations for those entities not possessing Home Rule, is based on the annual estimate. As a designated SDC affiliate, this program is the local point of contact for inquiries about population matters throughout the four-county region.
SEAGO planning staff is available to member entities to provide current Census information, as well as population estimates and projections for the region.
All current Census and State Data Center information is available at the new Arizona Workforce Website
