SEAGO Transportation Enhancement

Virtually anyone can apply for Transportation Enhancement funding! However, to receive consideration, and be awarded funding, the project must be sponsored by an appropriate governmental agency. The sponsoring agency is usually a town, city, county, tribe or federal land management agency.

This is a highly competitive pot of money. Only $8,000,000 is awarded for local projects and $4,000,000 awarded for state projects for the whole state of Arizona.

The people who are developing the ideas - whether it be a government entity, group, or individual - must first submit their ideas to SEAGO. SEAGO staff will evaluate your idea, and provide technical assistance, and advice for your project.

SEAGO Transportation Enhancement Process

  • SEAGO, in partnership with ADOT will conduct a Transportation Enhancement Application Workshop each year. A notice will be provided to all participating entities when the workshop will be held.

  • A letter of intent to submit a TE application must be received by the SEAGO transportation department, detailing the nature of the project.

  • A draft of your project must be sent electronically to SEAGO staff for review, and possible suggested corrections.

  • The final applicant will go before the SEAGO Enhancement Review Committee, consisting of the SEAGO Transportation Advisory Committee. Applications will be reviewed and ranked by TAC members. Applicants are encouraged to make a five to ten minute presentation about their applications at this meeting.

  • The applications will then go before the state Transportation Enhancement Review committee for ranking, and recommendation of projects to the State Transportation Board.

  • All final application will be posted on this web site.

A copy of the Handbook, application, Cost Estimates Form, and list of awarded projects, are available at http://www.azdot.gov/highways/SWProjMgmt/enhancement/how_to_apply.asp
